Our Mission

We are dedicated to financially supporting children and families of children afflicted with cancer
or other medical conditions. We also serve many other needs within the community.

We serve children and their families regardless of race creed or religion.

Combating Childhood Cancer

Cancer is the number one disease killing children in the United States.
While cancer remains a dreaded disease for people of all ages, it seems especially grim when it claims children as its victims.

  • More children die from cancer each year than from aids, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and asthma combined.
  • Ten thousand children are diagnosed with cancer every year.
  • Three thousand children die of cancer every year.

Childhood cancer is actually a group of diseases with widely different prognoses.
A child's future can depend on variables such as their age, attitude, and the support of family and friends.

We, at A Warrior's Mission, want to be part of this vital support network as often as possible. In order to accomplish this objective we count on contributions, and each contribution counts. Contributions are vital to the continued growth of our organization. Your assistance helps us to sustain our mission of enhancing the quality of life for countless disadvantaged children. Your generous donations also assist us in promoting children’s health by providing direct financial assistance, advocacy, and referral services.

We help to combat children's cancer by supporting recognized child cancer centers and hospitals that specialize in the treatment of children, as well as area centers that provide group activities promoting a positive outlook for ill children.

In addition, we utilize our Emergency Assistance Program to provide:

  • Help with medical expenses.
  • Transportation to and from treatment facilities.
  • Essential equipment.
  • Referrals for family support.
  • Specialized assistance based on individual needs.

As needs evolve we adapt to meet those needs.

Implimenting Programs for Crisis Assistance

We are here to develop and implement new programs to help the youth of today and tomorrow.

Through our current programs we are able to assist families of children undergoing bone marrow transplants, provide transportation to and from hospitals for families in need, grant financial support to families with overwhelming medical bills, provide a therapist for children either at home or in inpatient facilities, dispense mortgage and utility bill assistance, provide dinners for children and their families at holiday times, distribute gifts for children on holidays, and give financial assistance for funeral expenses and family counseling.

In addition A Warrior's Mission offers the following special programs to the communities we serve:

  • Emergency Assistancefor those families that suddenly find themselves in need. Heat electricity and doctor bills are common needs.
  • Food Assistanceto provide food and formula for infants so that they have well balanced diets.
  • Clothing Assistance, including clean seasonal clothing for children. Our "Back to School" program distributes new clothing to give our young clients a renewed sense of self worth.
  • Educational Assistancesuch as smoking awareness seminars in local elementary schools to alert young children to the dangers of smoking.
  • Special Transportation Assistanceso that cars will be available to underprivileged and low income individuals at a price significantly below fair market value.
  • Financial Assistance to allow low income families to improve their quality of life, thereby renewing their sense of self-respect and dignity.

Immediate assistance can sustain a family until a long term plan is developed and implemented. In some instances emergency assistance lessens the future need for welfare or other public assistance.
